Minutes Of The Meeting Of Amber Hill Annual Parish Meeting Held On 18th March 2019

Meeting started 7.33 pm
1. Apologies for absence and reasons given.
Cllr M Brooks gave his apologies. It was resolved to accept the apologies for absence
2. Draft minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on 19th March 2018 to be confirmed and signed as minutes.
It was resolved to accept the above draft minutes. They were confirmed as minutes and signed by the Chairman Cllr C Stephenson

E Gadd provided the Amber Hill W.I report
We meet at Hubberts Bridge Community Centre on the second Thursday of the month.
Membership and attendance have been good. Our 83rd birthday was celebrated with members from local W.I’s joining together. The entertainment was a Costume Historian, Meredith Towne entitled Glitz and Glamour - getting ready for a party. The evening concluded with a ploughmans supper and homemade sweet, and the drawing of the raffle.
The Annual Meeting was held at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff this year where voting took place on this years resolution.
The charity stall funds this year were donated to the Butterfly Hospice.
Speakers this year included contemporary flower arranging, a cookery demonstration held at Turnbull’s showroom Sleaford, John Robinson talking about ‘The Worshipful Company of Saddlers’, Michael Myers told us of his life as a Master Baker and Shaun D’Arcy informing us about Heritage Fruit Trees.
‘Much ado about Food’ and ‘Hell on Wheels’ presentation by Stephen Brown kept us entertained and amused, a talk on Fenland Natural Health concluded our year.
Outings were made to Van Dal shoe factory at Norwich and a guided tour of Newark Town Hall, Museum & Art Gallery. Members also attended the Spring Council meeting at Springfields, Spalding.
In December the committee prepared a meal for all, followed by presentation of the annual prizes for Competition and Flower of the month throughout the year. Once again, members enjoyed a varied, interesting and successful year together.
4. To receive the report from Amber Hill Playing Field
The current balance for the playingfield stands at £2,120.97. There is a fashion show arranged for Monday 1st April 2019 at Swineshead Village Hall in order to raise further funds. Volunteers from the village have put in place bird scarer’s on the swings and a donation of £100 has been received along with 4 residents making monthly donations.

6. To receive the Chairman’s Report on Parish Council Activites for the past year
Thank you to my fellow councillors for all their support during the past year and to our parish clerk Nicky, for her guidance and hard work, especially in working through the minefield of GDPR.
Reported crime has been low in the parish during the year, but theft from isolated farms and properties
is on the rise locally.
The former Toftstead Primary School has been renovated and has reopened as the Pilgrim School. The school is for children, who due to health reasons, are temporarily unable to attend their usual school. The village has seen some benefits from the school, we are back on the “Salt Route” and fibre optic internet supplies the village.
Ecotricity made an application to extend the planning permission on the Heckington Wind Farm for a further 5 years, and another year on, the government has yet to make a decision either way.
The council have advised us some of the street lights in the village are in need of replacement. Discussions are ongoing.
Work on the Tritton Knoll Cable Route is scheduled for early autumn 2019, to the south of the village.
We have recently welcomed Sheryl Fraser as a new councillor.
The precept has been raised to £3,369 for the coming year.
